Welcome to the CTiS website!

Churches Together in Shirley and District (CTiS) is a network of Christians and churches from different backgrounds and worship styles, who believe in Jesus Christ as God and Saviour and unite in the Holy Spirit to share the good news of Jesus in our community.

CTiS provides a forum to practically outwork the unity we have as Christians, aiming to strengthen existing relationships among churches and to share regularly in worship, study, prayer, witness, service and mission.

Most churches in Shirley are part of CTiS, covering a wide range of denominations and independent fellowships.  The committee consists of representatives from all member churches, and meets four times a year.

Regular events organised by CTiS are Christmas and Good Friday services in Shirley Precinct, and activities during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in January.

CTiS encourages joint projects between churches. These have included:

  • Running an Alpha course

  • The development of Communicare. This is a charity that provides practical help to people in our area, and which has now expanded to provide a Southampton-wide service.

  • Healing on the Streets, which took place on Saturday mornings in Shirley Precinct between 2011 and 2017.

  • The Collective Worship Team, which is a group of people from different churches in the area who take assemblies and religious education lessons in several local infant and junior schools. They also organize other activities outside schools, aimed at primary school aged children.  For further details see a detailed description here.
